And welcome

So  I imagine almost no one will see this little blog but from time to time I listen to Christian music and I wonder to myself is this Christian? Really that is suppose to somehow someway be Christian? It's suppose to exhort us to praise God more fully, lead us into praising his Holy and Perfect name and it says what? So along that Line, I give you Plumb God shaped hole.

"Every point of view has another angle
And every angle has its merit"

Webster defines merit as

Definition of MERIT

1
a obsolete : reward or punishment dueb : the qualities or actions that constitute the basis of one's desertsc : a praiseworthy quality : virtued : character or conduct deserving reward, honor, or esteem;also : achievement
2
: spiritual credit held to be earned by performance of righteous acts and to ensure future benefits
3
a plural : the substance of a legal case apart from matters of jurisdiction, procedure, or formb : individual significance or justification

So does every angle have merit? Is this a Christian thought? Granted in this huggy feely youth group culture in America we think every opinion is valid and some are just true for us but is this from the bible? What if my point of view and angle is that killing Christians brings glory to God? Well does that have merit? is it praiseworthy? Does this deserve reward honor or esteem?

Isaiah 55 says
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Jeremiah 17
9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?

Is our deceitful, not like God heart and ways praiseworthy? No they have no merit they are all bad. There is none good.

"But all comes down to faith
Thats the way i see it

You can say that love is not divine and
You can say that life is not eternal
"all we have is know"
But i don't believe it"

While this is all interesting, it doesn't ever matter how we see it. While the song uses the words faith and love and divine and eternal they don't quantify what that means. Mormans use some of the same language that Christians use but it doesn't mean the same. The touchy feely youth movement of America tends to say these words but what they mean is you just have to think this is true that life is eternal that love is divine but what does that mean? Why not just quote some scripture?

"There's a god-shaped hole in all of us
And the restless soul is searching
There's a god-shaped hole in all of us
And it's a void only he can fill"

Oh how I hate this god-shaped hole analogy. What would a hole the size of God look like? Possible an unapproachable infinite amount of light? No this is no where in scripture and really we should contain ourselves in Scripture.

Now the "restless soul is searching" This is where the writer of this song betrays themselves into showing that not only have they not read their bible but that they in fact don't understand mans sin. Do we search for God? The bible is clear

Romans 3:10as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
11 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
13 “Their throat is an open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
14 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 in their paths are ruin and misery,
17 and the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

"Does the world seem gray with empty longing
Wearing every shade of cynical
And do you ever feel that
There is something missing?

That's my point of view..."

No the damned don't feel something is missing they drink inequity like water?
15 Behold, Godb puts no trust in his holy ones,
and the heavens are not pure in his sight;
16 how much less one who is abominable and corrupt,
a man who drinks injustice like water!

You see the only thing we crave is sin, and our depravity.
